Training: September & April sessions take place on the pitches off Victory Road, October through to March take place under floodlights at Rolls-Royce Leisure Association facilities behind the Gym (Please contact any committee member for directions).

Sessions are structured and varied with the aim that every player takes something of benefit away from each evening.

It is recommended to train in full rugby kit and wearing match day protective equipment (mouth guards / shoulder pads / headgear). Also bring along fluids & fuel to use during and after the session.

Finally due to the unpredictive nature of the British climate always bring training shoes to every session in the event the pitch is unplayable and an alternative session is planned.

Change to training

The following training strategy has been devised. It is intended to enable the club and its members to develop further and realise their potential, which is a key area of underachievement so far this season.

Thursdays at 6:30pm will now become the 'club session' at which all members are welcome and encouraged to attend. Sessions will be varied and drills aimed at improving players of all abilities in all aspects of the game.

Tuesdays at 6:30pm will be by "invitation only", and will be targeted at the 1st XV squad (approx. 25 players - not always the same). These sessions will be focussed on more advanced drills, set piece scenarios and playing patterns. It may also take the form of the odd 'classroom' session or fitness session. The idea behind excluding the 'greener' members of the club is simple - because they can be prohibitive when trying to do the above. This may seem harsh, buts its a reality.

If you are 'invited' to a Tuesday session, you will be expected to attend - this is absolutely key to the success of this training plan, and the future of the club! Thursdays session is not mandatory for those attending on Tuesday. Therefore, those with poor training attendance can focus their efforts on one night a week (Tuesday), which should not be a big problem for anyone living/working in the Derby/Nottingham area.

Unfortunately however, due to weather and the NLD Plate fixture, the above will not be fully in effect until Week 9 (Tuesday 26th Feb) onwards. Therefore to confirm what's going on in the meantime...
